Big River Community Land Trust is proud to announce the groundbreaking for a new home at 1676 Trucker Road. This is the first of a number of homes to be built over the next few years by the Trust and an important step toward increasing affordable homeownership opportunities for workforce families in the region.
This single home is being built on land generously gifted by the City of Hood River, furthering the community’s commitment to affordable housing. Scheduled for completion in fall 2025, the home will be priced below $360,000—offering a rare opportunity for affordable homeownership in the area.
In partnership with Simplicity by Hayden Homes, this is a beautifully designed 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home with a garage. While it will be an affordable housing option, it does not compromise on quality or comfort. This home boasts modern amenities such as quartz countertops, air conditioning, and a 220-volt outlet in the garage. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the house will also come equipped with solar panels, further reducing utility bills.
“We are excited to see Big River moving forward with their first community land trust project. By creating more affordable housing, they are adding another piece to the affordable housing puzzle. We are thankful to have them here in the community, and glad we could support this project.”
-Mayor Paul Blackburn.
